Connecticut Attorney General requires re-do of Lyme diagnostic and treatment guidelines.

In May 2007, Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal requires the Infectious Disease Society of America must rewrite its flawed Lyme Disease Diagnostic and Treatment Guidelines. Blumenthal found "undisclosed financial interests ... forcing a reassessment of IDSA guidelines ... [the] IDSA's Lyme guideline process lacked important procedural safeguards requiring complete reevaluation of the 2006 Lyme disease guidelines... [Blumenthal found] undisclosed financial interests held by several of the most powerful IDSA panelists. The IDSA's guideline panel improperly ignored or minimized consideration of alternative medical opinion and evidence regarding chronic Lyme disease, potentially raising serious questions about whether the recommendations reflected all relevant science."
